Part storybook and part cookbook, A LITTLE COOKBOOK FOR A LITTLE GIRL introduces us to Margaret, a pint-sized and persistent scamp who desperately wants to do "little girl cooking," all by herself. Her mother, her grandmother, her "Pretty Aunt" and her "Other Aunt" attempt to hold her off until she's older, but Margaret prevails and learns to create Victorian-era breakfasts, suppers, dinners and desserts. We've left Caroline French Benton's original language and all of the antique colloquialisms of the early 1900's intact, but have edited the visual format for easier modern reading of this lovely antique cookbook. In addition, we've annotated a few things, in case you aren't quite sure what a "timbale" is, or just how much a "saltspoonful" holds. If you enjoy Margaret's culinary adventures in A LITTLE COOKBOOK FOR A LITTLE GIRL, be sure to watch for future volumes in our Caroline French Benton series.
