2016 Reprint of the 1907 edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. "Feill" means market day, feast day or holy day. In the preface the anonymous compiler thanks Miss Watson for permission to use a table from "The Samaritan cookery book' and Mr McKay for gaelic recipes from his "Highland Cookery." Most of the recipes are credited to individuals. There is a small section on ancient cookery and Gaelic recipes with translations. Proceeds from the book's sale were to go to the Highland Association which was formed in 1891. There are hundreds of recipes covering all aspects of Scottish cooking. Soups, fish, meats, cakes, puddings, sweets, sauces, jams and ancient cookery are all covered.
